Malcolm Liepke is one of my favorite painters.  I love his expressive brushwork and color.  I felt compelled to try and capture the energy in his work:

Learning gouache

Here's one of some of my initial sketches using gouache.  Dealing with value, color, and color temp. all at the same time is tricky.  But it can only get better from here (hopefully).
